History

This prestigious building was built back in 1881 by Wilhelm Stiassny as a semi-detached palace. Like most of the buildings at this time it was built as a so called “Neu-Wiener Renaissance” palace with beautiful 3-floor-oriels and an extraordinary foyer with stucco ceiling.

This city palace was once the home of world-famous literary figure Stefan Zweig (November 28, 1881 - February 22, 1942) who was an Austrian novelist, playwright journalist and biographer. Zweig studied philosophy at the University of Vienna and in 1904 earned a doctoral degree with a thesis on "The Philosophy of Hippolyte Taine".

After comprehensive building renovations, the hotel proudly greets its guests with a modern ambience and stylish interior elements.
