History

Since 1912, Hotel Astoria has been the epitomy of Austrian hospitality, bringing its guests the appealing charm and warmth of fin-de-siècle Vienna. When it was opened, the hotel was regarded as the most modern in Vienna. The establishment provided accommodation for countless Austrian and foreign aristocrats, diplomats, famous scientists and politicians, as well as international stars of stage and screen.
World War II also left its traces on the hotel. After having been seized and occupied by the Allies, renovations of the hotel began in 1948.
Taken over by the Österreichisches Verkehrsbüro AG in March 1978, the remodelling of the hotel continued uninterrupted from that point on.
With architecture that embodies fin-de-siècle style, today’s hotel combines tradition, historical flair, Austrian hospitality and Viennese warmth, conveying to its guests a very unique atmosphere.
